This 4.13-carat gemstone is from the southwestern gem regions of Ceylon, is ecologically and environmentally friendly mined by hand. Resembling the Indian ocean and Blue-ish Purple in colour, this rectangular shaped, Natural Corundum variety Sapphire has dimensions of 6.51mm by 9.47mm with a pavilion depth of 6.33mm. The stone sports a modified radiant cut on the pavilion facets which brings a special glint and personality to the stone. Having a Refractive index of 1.76 and a specific gravity of around 4.00, this stone possesses an eye-catching vitreous lustre and an eye clean clarity. Originally, this beauty had a slightly duller and silky body indicating suitability to a light touch of a flame. Thus, removing natural inclusions and enhancing an already exceptional colour, this stone has been heated at low temperatures using traditional Sri Lankan blow-tube methods by our skilled craftsman in heat treatment.

Ceylon was initially known as Ceilão, a name given to Sri Lanka by the Portuguese colony in 1505. The British then re-colonised the land in 1798, changing Ceilão into English as Ceylon.
