Mozambique Pyrope Garnet – Red – Oval – 2.15 Carats

$ 710.00

When in doubt, make a red painting. And this beautiful pyrope garnet from our mines in Mozambique is no doubt a red painting. A stunning stone facetted by our lapidarists in Sri Lanka, this stunner supports a carat weight of 2.15 carats and the dimensions of 8.37mm by  7.33mm with a pavilion depth of 4.27mm. Having an eye clean clarity the natural crystal inclusions within the stone can be seen under a hand lens or a microscope, indicating the naturality of the stone and giving it an added character. Having undergone zero treatments this garnet would make a lovely centrepiece for a cocktail ring. The intensity of red in the garnet is, of course, a major highlight of the stone as well. This garnet has a modified flower cut, allowing the stone to exuberate vibrancy.

So allow this beauty to don your finger as it shines and sparkles along with you when you are dancing into the night.

MOZAMBIQUE GARNETS

Garnets in the gem-world are the most underrated gemstone. The general population’s perception is skewed due to the use of garnets to imitate other gemstones. In addition, these imitations are not as valuable. However, Garnets also have a certain to the beauty to them, allowing them to inhabit famous pieces of beautiful jewellery. An example is The Winter Egg.

The Garnet is among the list of the world’s hardest stones, with a hardness ranging between 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs’ scale of hardness. Thus making it most suitable for use in jewellery. To ensure it’s durability, people in the gem world, whether it may be merchants, lapidarists and jewellers, take special care to see that its original quality is maintained for a long time.

There are a variety of famous Garnet deposits around the world and Mozambique is a major producer. Mozambique Garnet primarily originate from the mines of Cuamba in Mozambique’s Niassa Province and displays an incomparable and timeless beauty, and is also yet so affordable. In addition, excellently cut Mozambique garnets reflect their inner beauty, with an eye-clean finish. In addition, they are also of the highest quality and clarity grade for coloured gemstones, varying from a wonderfully transparent to a clear appearance, as determined by the world’s leading gemological laboratories. Despite its high quality it is challenging to obtain consistently, due to its rarity as the country’s only mined semi-precious gemstone.
