If hot red is for anger and rage, pink is the colour of a soft burning. And that is exactly true for this interesting pink tourmaline. Having slightly more natural inclusions than our other stock, this stone alludes to all those who are interested in the intricate world of gemstones. Despite this, the stone has a vitreous lustre and the dimensions of 5.93mm by 5.88mm and a pavilion depth of 4.34mm. This tourmaline has a carat weight of 1.05 carats and is cut in a square shape as well as a step cut on the pavilion, by our talented lapidarists. Like many of our stones, this stone is free of any treatments, increasing the natural value of the stone. Our mines in Africa produced this stone and we have mined it in an environmentally and ethically friendly manner. The clarity of the stone as mentioned before is categorised as “VS”.

This beautiful stone, despite the inclusions, is an absolute beauty with even colour and does belong as a necessary accomplice to another stone or stones in our collection.

African Tourmaline

Tourmalines are a type of gemstone from a group which composes of boron-silicate minerals, coming in a variety of different colours. It also contains different elements such as magnesium, sodium, aluminium, iron, potassium and lithium. Additionally, the individual minerals have different chemical compositions but share a common crystal structure, allowing for the aforementioned wide range in colour.

Also mined in various part of the world, Brazil and the African continent are the largest producers in the world. Also, in Africa especially, there are various countries which mine the precious stone including Mozambique, which produces clean stones that are lighter in saturation and larger in size, Zambia, Madagascar, Nigeria and Namibia. In addition, each country displaying a different primary property.
